AT LEAST 2 – 3 DAYS OF ACCLIMATIZATION IS REQUIRED IN LEH BEFORE THE TREK.
Description: On this trek there are several villages among the richest in Ladakh. This trekking is known as Sham valley or Apricot valley trek. Arrive at Likir monastery, where the track to Likir monastery meats in between Saspol – Bazgo, it is hardly an hour walks from the road. Through the Indus valley and the ancient kingdom of Sham, we will discover the main Ladakhi monasteries and the wonderful sites surrounding them: Lamayuru and Alchi are all accessible by road, and Temisgang, Ridzong and Likir line the trekking route. This itinerary is of moderate difficulty and the path does not rise above 4500m. The trail crosses numerous villages where the people have kept their Ladakhi ways and customs.
Day 01: LEH - LIKER - YANGTHANG. (4 – 5 Hrs). Start the first leg the trek. After the village cross over the Pobe-La. Enroute trek passes the lonely village of Sumdo. Further along a valley and trek to reach Chartse La and then arriveYangthang. O/n Camp.
Day 02: YANGTHANG - HEMIS SHUKPACHAN. (4 – 5 Hrs). Trek along Wullu valley and after coming over Shemchan La, arrive at the village of Hemis-Shukpachan. This village is popular throughout Ladakh for its aromatic Shukpa (Cedar) which is used as an incense for religious purposes. Visit the small gompa. O/n tents.
Day 03: HEMIS SHUKPACHAN - TINGMOSGANG. (4 – 5 Hrs). Trek through the Ang village enter Tingmosgang village, the famous village of Ladakh which is known for its Apricots, Apples and Walnuts. At the end of the village visit the ancient palace of Tingmosgang surrounded by ruined buildings. InfactTingmosgang was once the capital of western Ladakh. O/n Tents.
Day 04: TINGMOSGAM – LEH. Morning after breakfast proceeds towards Tia village. Tingmosgang is a big village of the area. There is a beautiful monastery to visit. Cross the bridge near Tia village and ascend towards Bong Bong-la. From the pass descend all the way to BaluKhar on Leh Srinagar High way. You will pick up by car at this point and further drive to Leh.
