Day 01: LEH – ALCHI – LAMAYURU. We drive from Leh in the morning towards Lamayuru (3 hrs) along the Indus River through Sham valley en route visit ALCHI. 70 km from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi gompa dating a thousand years back. One of its wall features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized images made of clay and painted brightly are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious centre, it is looked after by monks from the Likir monastery. LAMAYURU monastery was founded by Rinche Zangpo in the 10th century. This gompa is located amidst the massive mountains. The spectacular setting of this gompa and its renowned collection of carpets, thangkas and frescoes has been attracting many people over a long time. It is believed to be the oldest in central Ladakh. O/n Tents
Day 02: LAMAYURU – WANLA – HANUPATTA (3770 Mts) (3-4 hrs). Post breakfast we drive to Hanupatta on the road which was realier the trekking route. The road leads up to the small pass of Prinkti La (3750m) before heading down to the village of Shilla and the last 3 km to Wanla (3250m). The road after wanla over the Phansila (3410m) will lead us to a beautiful valley. From here we descend a pass beyond which the valley starts to narrow, with mountains towering above our heads and the Zanskar River making its way deep down in the gorge. In this barren, harsh landscape, beautiful rosebushes give your senses an unforgettable experience. We camp close to the river, just after the village of Hanupatta (3770m), where we have a great view down the valley.
Day 03: TREK STARTS: HANUPATA – SIRSIRLA (4850 Mts) - PHOTOKSAR (4200 Mts / 5-6 Hrs). We follow the river and the wide valley up for some time before we cross the river and start the long and gradual ascent to Sir Sir La (4850m). From the top of the pass we can get panoramic view of the main Zanskar range as well as our next pass, the Singge La (5090m). We spend the night close to the village and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Day 04: PHOTOKSAR - SINGE LA (5050 Mts) – SINGE LA BASE (5 - 6 Hrs.). After crossing the small pass of Bumiktse La (4200) this morning, we enter the broad and lush Photang valley. A gentle trail leads us through this beautiful landscape, where villagers graze their yak/dzo and horses.
Day 05: SINGE LA BASE- LINGSHED (3800 Mts - 6 Hrs). We follow the trail high above the Zanskar River; the mountains take a greener and gentler formation, before we descend from Kiupa La (4400 m) down the steep zigzag trail to the villages of Gongma (3840m) and Skiumpata. From here we climb up a gentle trail to the Margum La (4400m), from where we can see Lingshed an hour or so away. O/n tents.
Day 06: LINGSHED – HANUMA LA (4950 Mts) - NYARTSE. (3750 Mts - 7 / 8 Hrs). A long day, we walk through the green fields of Lingshed early in the morning. It takes some ups and downs before we reach the base of the Hanuma La (4950m), from where we start climbing the many steep zigzags that lead to the top of the pass.
Day 07: NYARTSE - HANUMIL VIA PURFI LA (3950 Mts / 5 Hrs) Today we head for another pass: Parfi La (3950m). A short walk after Snertse, there is a wonderful lookout from where we can see the pass and, down the valley, the Oma Chu River. We follow the trail 500m down the valley, cross the bridge and start on the juniper covered zigzag trail up to Parfi La. Red alert! If fortune strikes, we may come across a rare species of the Himalayan region: the majestic brown bear. We may also see herds of attractive Himalayan blue sheep. Here we walk down to the banks of the Zanskar River and follow it all the way to the village of Hanumil (3380 m), where we will camp for the night.
Day 08: HANUMIL - PISHU (3200 Mts / 4-5Hrs). We will start with an easy walk on plain and barren land along the Zanskar River and follow it all the way to Pishu (3470 m), passing Pidmo 3420m), an exotic landlocked hamlet of 8-9 families leading a simple traditional life. Pishu is located on the west side of the Zanskar River and opposite of Zangla (formerly a tiny kingdom).
Day 09: PISHU – PADUM. Today we drive and have a rest day at Padum head quarter of Zanskar, en route visiting monasteries Karsha, Stongde & Sani. O/n Guest House.
Day 10: PADUM – BARDAN. Today we drive to Bardan Village the starting point of our trek down to Udaipur. The road will show you views of great peaks. Bardan Gompa, perched on a rock promontory, was built in the 17th century and can be visited on the way. O/n Tents.
Day 11: BARDAN –CAMP3RD (5 HRS). Post breakfast we continue above the Tsarap Chu River flows through grassy meadows continue ascent keeping Tenasa Tokpo on your left. The trail ascends though charming meadows and boulders fields, you pass across rocky platitude. Continue further through several crossing of streams and beautiful landscape of the valley to reach your camp. O/.n Tents.
Day 12: CAMP 3RD – KANGLA-LA (5400M) – CAMP 2ND (7 HRS). Today we will follow the trail up crossing Kang La. Enjoy the Awe inspiring exhilarating view of surrounding enormous overwhelming mountains. Long descent from Kang La pass enclosed by rock cliff to the south and snow wall to the north. Descend slowly from the pass to the snow field clad.Magnificent views of down valley with Menthosa (6443m) at the head of the glacier, a large snow field curves to the west side to the bank of pass. Day 13: CAMP 2ND – CAMP 1st(7 HRS).Continue your trek further Camp 1st. Trail turning ups and downs along the increasingly distracted trail. Adventurous and challenging terrain during the trek till the confluence with side glacier.You walk across the terminal moraine to the right side of the glacier. Far flung attractive view of Miyar Glacier, long from the camp but you have optional route. Ultimately you reach at campsite. O/n Tents
Day 14: CAMP 1ST - GUMBHA NALLA (6-7 HRS). Post breakfast with awesome view of landscape, continue trek gently descending to the shepherd's camp across the beautiful meadow locally known as Khaigot. Pass pastureland to open meadows along upstream river crossing. Good and nice campsite with wonderful landscape heading to Udaipur (Himachal Pradesh). O/n Tents.
Day 15: GUMBHA NALLA - THARANG (6-7 HRS). Morning after breakfast, gradually descend up over the rich grazing pasture. Yak flocks of Zanskar may be seen nearby Tralasuma- pass. From campsite of Gumbha Nalla, you enjoy the glimpses of stunning enormous mountain Peaks of Mighty Himalayas. O/n Tents.
Day 16: THARANG - URGOS (6-7 HRS). Continue trekking further towards Urgos with several magnificent snow clad peaks of Chenab valley. The highlights of the day are charming village and awesome view of landscape and view breathtaking huge towering mountains. A gradual descent of 200 Mts follow through wild alluvium admirer.Continue trek with gentle walk down towards the river floor where you find a bridge. Cross the bridge and continue further 2kms after then you come across charming village Khanjar in the valley on right. O/n Tents.
Day 17: URGOS - CHAMRAT (6 HRS). Continue trek after breakfast across the meadows gently down viewing the confluence of valleys leading to the massif Menthosa Peak (6443 Mts).Enchanting view of the valley then continue trek along the clear route that leads through beautiful flowered meadows , Peas and millets fields before re crossing the Miyar. Cross the Miyar river over well-constructed bridge towards the first village Chamrat of Miyar Valley. O/n Tents.
Day 18: CHAMRAT - UDAIPUR (5 HRS). Morning, after breakfast, you start your last day of you exciting and adventurous trek along the marvelous narrow stunning gorge of the imposing Miyar and Zanskar Valley. Leave behind The village Chamret, dotted with Mani walls and prayer flags, the first village of the Miyar valley. O/n Tents.
Day 19: UDAIPUR – ROHTANG LA (3980 Mts) – MANALI. Morning visit the temple of Lord Trilokinatth and the temple of Mrikula Devi at Udaipur and further drive to Manali via Rohtang la.
Day 20: AT MANALI. There is plenty to see around Manali and on the opposite side of the valley along with spectacular views can take you to Naggar castle, the estate and museum of Russian painter Nikolai Roerich and hot springs at Vashisht. Post lunch we can explore the markets, temples and Tibetan refugee camps of this bustling mountain town.
Day 21: MANALI - CHANDIGARH – DELHI. Early morning we drive to Chandigarh in a small mini bus to board the evening fast train to Delhi. Arrive Delhi in the night and transferred to your Hotel.
Day 22: Transfer to the Airport to board the flight back home.
